Penny Lamb Update on the Community Play Project
September 2011
I am delighted to say that the Hartfield Community Play Project has been awarded a ‘Grant for the Arts’ worth over £45,000- a considerable chunk towards our goal. The Arts Council, funded by the National Lottery, has shown this massive support for our project and we are over the moon!
After months of working hard, planning and dreaming, this now means we can get cracking on with our amazing project including:
-
holding drama workshops and improvisation sessions
-
continuting to research the stories of Hartfield, past and present (some amazing stuff is being unearthered!)Hartfield's history is ripe with children's authors: not only Milne, but W B Yeats and Christopher Fry lived and worked here.
-
engaging people through our children's story festival, Storyfest (this will include parades, storytelling and comic book workshops, authors' and illustrators' visits, book clubs, shadow puppets and lantern making. Actvities will be held throughout the village with a 2-day festival on May 12 and 13th)
-
commissioning a play-write to write our play
-
commissioning a director and producer who will literally move into the village in the Spring to help us make it all happen over 12 nights next June and July.
We are a vibrant team of varied backgrounds and skills, now is a great time for you to get involved. We are a friendly bunch, and Claque is an inspiring company to be working with. Bring the skills you have or learn new ones. Could you: book venues, arrange workshops, help apply for grants, help with pr, help research? We need you!
